Dr. A-M. Ghadirian — Biography<\/p>\n
Dr. Abdu\u2019l-Missagh Ghadirian is an author, researcher and Emeritus Professor at McGill University, Faculty of Medicine in Montreal as well as a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He has spoken in numerous public, professional and university venues around the world and received several awards for his scientific and humanitarian contributions and services.<\/p>\n
His extensive research includes about 170 articles published mostly in scientific journals and in other professional media in the field of social science and psychiatry. He is the author of fourteen books, including \u201cIn Search of Nirvana\u201d, \u201cAgeing: Challenges and Opportunities\u201d, \u201cEnvironment and Psychopathology\u201d and \u201cAlcohol and Drug Abuse: a Psychosocial and Spiritual Approach to Prevention\u201d.<\/p>\n
More recently he has published the books \u201cCreative Dimensions of Suffering\u201d (USA, 2009), \u201cMaterialism \u2013 Moral and Social Consequences\u201d (2010 & Second edition 2017 ), for which he received Distinguished Scholarship Award from the Association for Baha\u2019i Studies in 2011,\u201cSteadfastness in the Covenant\u201d, George Ronald Publisher, Oxford UK (2014) and \u00a0Alzheimer\u2019s Disease: An Eclipse before Sunset (2nd<\/sup> edition) 2016, USA. \u00a0Some of his works have been translated and published in French, English, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Portuguese, Persian and Chinese.<\/p>\n Since 2002 he has been teaching a course on Spirituality and Ethics in Medicine which he initiated and established at McGill University\u2019s Faculty of Medicine as part of its programme for undergraduate students. His academic research in recent years has focused on topics including resilience and creativity in the midst of adversity and the interrelationship of science and spirituality.<\/p>\n He has been writing on the application of Baha\u2019i principles to current societal problems and also about the persecution of the Baha\u2019is of Iran.\u00a0 He was consultant to the Baha\u2019i International Community, a non-governmental organization (NGO) at the United Nations on the prevention of alcoholism and drug dependencies (1977-2000).<\/p>\n He taught in the distance education programme of the Baha\u2019i Institute for Higher Education (BIHE-Iran) as one of its professors from around the world from 2006-2012.\u00a0 Currently he is a guest speaker for the BIHE program on Public Health.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Dr. A-M.
